The "Can Tho Marathon - A Heritage Race" is one of Vietnam's largest and most professionally organized international races. The marathon is held annually in December in Can Tho city in the heart of the Mekong Delta, 170 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Competing in this race is not only a chance for you to challenge yourself in the tropical climate and expand network with lovers of this miraculous sport from around the world, but also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the nature of Vietnam's southwestern region and in particular, getting acquainted with the life rhythm of local people in a floating market on the river, an activity selected as the country's intangible cultural heritage.


2. Objective

The race is aimed at creating a professional playing field, attracting Vietnamese people who love running, and developing, expanding the domestic and international long-distance running community.

The Can Tho Marathon - A Heritage Race attracts a large number of domestic and international runners, runners from the national athletic team and elite runners in the country.

The race is a highlight in promoting widely the image of the country and people of Vietnam in general, and of Can Tho city, the people and typical cultural features of the southwest catchment region in particular.

The race also aims to attract wide support from the society, communities, organizations and businesses.


3. Uniqueness

The track lies on a flat road coated by bitumen, going past famous landmarks of the historic western capital such as Ninh Kieu wharf, Love walking bridge, Chau Van Liem school, Cai Rang floating market, Binh Thuy ancient house...

The marathon takes place in ideal weather conditions at the beginning of the dry season in Vietnam’s southern region, right after the flood waters recede. Temperatures range from 26-32 Celsius degrees, suitable for marathon.
